Filling is done by unscrewing the plunger knob, drawing it back, immersing the nib and section into bottled ink, and then pushing the plunger forward to create the vacuum fill. The Custom 823 is intended for bottled ink only and does not accept cartridges.
It is fitted with a 14-karat gold nib and comes packaged in a silver sateen-lined Pilot gift box, along with a 70 mL bottle of Pilot blue fountain pen ink.
